Fizel Nejabat
BA Jurisprudence 2008
Co-Founder & COO at Algbra
Fizel Nejabat is a lawyer-turned-entrepreneur whose ventures are redefining industries with purpose and innovation. His first business, Algbra, is a London-based fintech advancing sustainability and financial inclusion on a global scale. His second, Performr, is a wearable technology company revolutionising personal health and performance tracking.
Under Fizel’s leadership, Algbra became the first ethical fintech to secure both an authorised E-Money Institution licence from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and B Corp certification, earning recognition for its innovative, sustainability-driven solutions. In 2024, Fizel’s contributions to financial services were honoured with the Freedom of the City of London, making him one of the youngest recipients of this prestigious accolade.
Fizel’s second venture, Performr, has developed a cutting-edge smartwatch capable of providing non-invasive insights comparable to blood tests with broad applications, from optimising nutrition and performance for athletes, to empowering everyday users with personalised health data, and extending to the early detection of disease.
Fizel graduated in Law from Keble under the tutelage of Ed Peel and Jamie Edelman. After qualifying and practising with Clifford Chance in London and Dubai, he became a patron of the Next 100 Years project, working alongside his long-time mentor, Dana Denis-Smith, to champion diversity and representation in the legal profession.
Driven by personal experience, Fizel also launched the #Match4Sara campaign to increase diversity in stem cell donation following his sister’s diagnosis with myelofibrosis. His efforts have significantly improved donor registrations among ethnic minorities, addressing a critical need in healthcare equity.
Fizel attributes his energy and ethos to his father, a professional wrestler turned businessman, and his mother, who instilled in him the belief that faith, in any form, is the cornerstone of success.
