Sabrina Martin
Fellow by Special Election 2020
Politics
Dr Sabrina Martin first came to Keble as a Stipendiary Lecturer in 2017 while she was completing her DPhil at LMH. Sabrina teaches Politics for Keble and has been a Fellow by Special Election at the College since 2020.
Sabrina’s academic work started off in Political Theory, and her thesis was on fair trade (“it’s not just the coffee and bananas”). It has since morphed into more applied topics, and the majority of her work in the field has involved data, AI, and emerging technologies. She has written policy papers for the UK government, consulted for several international government ministries, and presented her research to the UN and EU.
Sabrina cares deeply about her students at Keble. In 2019, her students nominated her for the Oxford University Student Union Outstanding Tutor Award, where she ended up as a finalist. In addition to teaching Politics, she is the Director of Studies for the Dartmouth Visiting Students programme, having been a visiting student from a US liberal arts college herself back in the day.
She is actively involved in College life and was recently appointed the College’s Fellow for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and is a founding member of the Keble Women’s Group. Though perhaps her favourite extra-curricular activity at Keble has been getting to interview alumnus Ed Balls as part of the Keble Politics Lecture Series.
As for the bump, Sabrina is now a proud mum to daughter Caroline.
